I’m 16 and I would like to get tested for STDs and get the Gardasil vaccine. There is a health department that I can easily walk to after school and I have my own Medicaid. Do I need to make an appointment, or can I just walk in?
I work for a health department and where I work you need an appointment. You should call them- or go in person- and speak with a nurse about your situation. If you need testing soon (like if you think you were exposed), they should get you in without delay. If it is for screening, there might be a wait for a routine appointment. As far as the vaccine, some clinics take walk-ins and some make appointments. They will be able to tell you this when you call.
