Since the relative cost of good insurance to government insurance will increase, won’t employers start dropping their more expensive plans until everyone has the same crappy nationalized insurance?
Exactly. What will happen is,first they will tax what your employer contributes to your plan as taxable income. They will then offer you a government based program at a lower cost(later it will become lower service) This will eventually choke off private health care,by people wanting to pay less(enticed by false promises) and then by regulating it so much that the private health care companies will have no chance in a free market(especially when the free market is abused by government power).
A good example is Hawaii. They instituted a state health care plan, and the people whom were paying private health care stopped using their provider and went on the government program.Six months later the state had to cancel the program because they could not afford the costs!
When Obama eliminates the tax deduction on employer health plans, will more people be forced to gov’t insurance?

Basically, yes. It’s a sideways path to his plan of Universal Health Care.
Anyone else notice that this plan to tax employer health plans is exactly what he ripped McCain on during the campaign? He couldn’t stand the thought of removing the tax exempt status to give people a better choice, now he’s doing exactly that to give no choice.

Government workers have private insurances such as Aetna and Blue Cross, that’s why it isn’t crappy.
Medicaid and Medicare are crappy what makes you think this won’t be.

Smaller employers might do that, but larger employers who want to attract decent talent won’t. I work for a Fortune 100 company that operates within the health care industry (on the provider end, not insurance). I can assure you that our higher end plans will not be dropped in favor of a government plan. The talent base wouldn’t tolerate it and would leave for a company that offered decent health care plans.

It depends on the plan. Nothing is decided. Some democrats like Charles Rangel is opposed to that.
If that happens, the tax incidence falls on the employee, not the employer. The employer instead of dropping the insurance passes the cost to the employee. An employee with a tax rate of 25% with premiums of 600 a month may pay an extra 150. If an employee pays an extra 150 dollars an month for his or her insurance, is that enough to drop her insurance. If the marketplace can provide better health care than the government, is that dollar amount too much to avoid the government?

Yes. You have discovered his nefarious plan. Manipulation.Just like forcing people to stop smoking by jacking up the cigarette tax, getting rid of guns by attacking ammo, forcing people into glorified golf carts or bikes by taxing fuel and so on.
Soon we will be as bad off as others in the world with socialized medicine. No more incentive for new technology, denial of expensive treatments, patient stacking, euthanasia and so on.
socialized medicine, and anything else, is not just a bad idea, it’s aggressively bad!
