Adorable Puppy Explains Health Care Bill
March 27th, 2010 | by admin |
In which John offers a summary of the health care reform bill that just passed the U.S. senate, discussing the insurance exchange market, pre-existing condition clauses, medicare taxes, and other fine points of the still-under-debate bill. Here’s a good explanation of how the insurance exchanges will look like: http://bit.ly/eIwNE
Thanks to Alan Lastufka
( http://youtube.com/fallofautumndistro ) for the Ben Nelson asshat photo.
About abortion: The senate plan works like this: Policies covering abortion would be available in the exchange market (at least in some states), but those plans would have to collect two separate premiums–one covering everything other than abortion, and one for abortion coverage. The subsidy (available to all families making less than about $88,000 a year depending on number of kids) would only apply to the non-abortion policy.
If this seems like a hilariously stupid distinction, that’s because it is. Ultimately, it of course doesn’t matter which policy the subsidy goes toward. But then again, every federal program “supports” abortion in some way. For instance, without federally funded highways, it would be impossible for most women to get abortions. All government spending indirectly goes to support all activity in America, but it’s ridiculous to say that, for instance, food stamps encourage meth use, even though sometimes people trade meth for food they bought with food stamps. It’s equally disingenuous to say that this bill will allow federal funding of abortions, unless you’re willing to argue that all government spending funds abortion.

This is funny to me …
This is funny to me…in the army we say “we leave no man behind”, we give tons of money to different countries who have had disasters of some sort and get nothing. We go to war with countries, then pay to fix em back up again, etc etc. But yet when it comes to helping out your fellow americans we save…fuck you help yourself. We bash other countries who dont care for their people but yet most civilized countries have universal health care, guess were not so high and mighty like we thought….

@nuzuk There is no …
@nuzuk There is no government insurance. That’s the whole point of the private exchange and the fines for large businesses who don’t provide health insurance and incentives for all businesses to provide health insurance for their workers.

@TisiphoneSeraph I am sure your credit card statements are quite high, if you have the same attitude toward your own personal debt as you do the nations. But hell, I don’t care, I don’t have kids.

Wow, this guy did an awesome job summarizing everything.
You know, people, there are countless hospitals that should’ve gone bankrupt a LONG time ago just because of all of the debt they accumulated by treating illegal aliens alone, much less the actual citizens who had inadequate healthcare.

Cost of medical …
Cost of medical bills > Cost of insurance.
If you can’t pay for insurance, you won’t be able to pay for bills. If you can’t pay for the bills, everyone else takes on the cost because well hey, someone has to pay for it. Which means everyone else has to pay for it when their premiums rise.
We buy car insurance so no one gets screwed over.

Personally, I don’t give a crap about the debt. I know it’s important and that it contributes to inflation and our allegiances to other countries, but I’d really like to know I can walk into a doctors office if I’m sick and not become more sick over how I pay for it. Plus leaving health care as it is basically forcing everyone to work for biggish companies which have a history of deindividualizing their workers and not recognizing their needs.

Are they going to …
Are they going to Tax me 40 percent of what i pay for my insurance through my job? And if they do that are they allso taxing my employer 40 percent of what they pay? If they are then, why would my employer not just drop us and shove us onto the government insurance? From what i’ve heard allready theres talk of dropping our insurance as it will in the long run be cheaper to pay the fine. So basicly the goal of this bill is to kill private insurance?

I know I’m being selfish. ;But the only thiing tis did was screw over all the people who worked to get healt insurance. I think tha this is just plain stupid. Obama keeps finding ways to “make this country better” when no on is realizing the friggin debt. We are in i think 14 trillion bucks in debt? Around there. Some of the idiots in Wasington don’t realize that thisis an issue. Serously, I could do a better Job than Obama.

WOW! thats awesome, except, everyone is forced to buy insureance yet, hmmmmm there are still accendents on the road. Maybe if I didn’t have the insurance, I would drive safer to be sure I wouldn’t crash, because then I would just have to pay for it out of pocket… am I crazy?

At about 1:50 he kinda blows the whole health care argument. You can already go to the ER and get help and not pay, which is exactly what libs want, right? Also anyone making under 88,000 a year will be subsidized, which comes out of taxes and/or medicaid which will be cut by 500 billion. But anyone making over has to help pay, that would include the small businesses The One loves so much.
