The mandates in the bill could have been passed without spending one dime. This trillion dollar bill has no fixes for the high cost of healthcare. Premiums go up because healthcare cost go up. Healthcare cost are high for many reasons the biggest is lack of competition because of regulation and over use by patients and Dr. because of a 3 party pay system and liability issues. Artificially low premiums on the Gov. side(covered by taxes) make artificially high premiums on the private side.
